Physical and chemical properties:
Gentamicin Sulfate is white or white crystalline powder, moisture-inducing, easily soluble in water, insoluble in lipids, insoluble in organic solvents, chemically stable, stable to temperature and pH changes, pH of 4% aqueous solution is 4.0 ~ 6.0.
Medication instructions:
Its use in domestic animals is limited due to nephrotoxicity and rare ototoxicity and neuromuscular block. Microbial resistance is of great concern, although many bacteria are resistant to gentamicin and may be sensitive to amikacin. Monitoring of serum levels of gentamicin is recommended if this drug must be used in animals with pre-existing renal dysfunction. The blood concentration of each drug should be less than 2μg/ml.
Use this class of drugs systemic only when absolutely necessary in older animals or those with impaired kidney function, and with caution in rabbits, birds and reptiles. Rehydration therapy is necessary during reptile treatment. Uric acid levels in birds and reptiles were monitored.
